Welcome to Palamuru University
The University has 120 highly qualified, potential and experienced teaching
staff, both regular and Academic Consultants rendering their services for the
holistic development of the university. The University has achieved the prominent
Guinness World Record and India Book Record in National Service Scheme and
most of the Faculty Members are honoured with the prestigious German-DAAD
Fellowship, UGC Research Award, DST Young Scientist Awards, State Level Best
Teacher Awards, Best Scientist Award, etc. Though the University is a rural
establishment, it has proved to be very efficient with the committed and dedicated
faculty members. Most of the faculty members are granted with major Research
Projects funded by SERB, DST, UGC. Many of the students got DST-INSPIRE
Fellowships for their higher studies.
Palamuru University has paid equal attention to structural expansion. The scope and jurisdiction of the University has been expanded with the transfer of all the 123 affiliated colleges in Mahabubnagar district from Osmania University during 2012-13. At present 141 affiliated colleges offering diverse programmes of study UG, PG and Professional, with student strength of nearly 60,000 constitute the academic landscape of Palamuru University. Apart from the main campus at Mahabubnagar, Palamuru University has three constituent PG Centers at Gadwal, Wanaparthy & Kollapur under its administrative control.
During the last seven years, Palamuru University has witnessed considerable progress. It has been successfully pursuing the mission of empowering the youth in a predominantly backward tribal area of Telangana State through access to an affordable and quality higher education with equal emphasis on equity. In tune with this, it has been offering new courses relevant to our times at regular intervals.
Today, Palamuru University offers 16 P.G. courses at its main campus and 13 P.G. Courses at its three P.G. centers. There are around 1500 students on roll. The University is in forefront in implementing new academic initiatives and educational reforms such as Semester System, Choice Based Credit System (C.B.C.S.), Grading System and Continuous Evaluation in its U.G. and P.G. courses. Palamuru University is known to have evolved fine academic traditions. It has accorded primacy to extension and outreach activities and forged linkages with industry, research institutions and NGO’s in furtherance of its mission.
The University has secured recognition of the Pharmacy Council of India (P.C.I.) for its B.Pharmacy course. It has also obtained the approval of the National Council of Teacher Education (N.C.T.E.) for its M.Ed. course. Palamuru University has been admitted under section 12(B) of U.G.C. during 2014-15 paving way for its planned development. The University held its first Convocation in the same year. The University has been striving to augment regular teaching and supporting staff and introduced Ph.D. programme in select disciplines. It is planning to set up a Technical Campus at Jadcherla to offer Engineering and Technology courses. The University Administration, with the support of various Committees, has created a smooth and congenial atmosphere for a learner-centric environment. Students find it hassle-free and stress-free to take all sorts of examinations with the well-planned Academic Almanac. The Biometric Attendance system and the setting up of Surveillance system through Closed-Circuit Cameras has created a cordial atmosphere in the campus. This has led to more productivity by adequate Time Management.
The University has taken up several new initiatives in the recent past to make rigorous changes in teaching methodology that leads to improved academic performance by students, intensive use of new technologies in learning and evaluation processes; and strengthening infrastructural facilities to improve quality and quantity of research output and professional development activities via International and National MoUs like Girne American University and National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI).
Palamuru University (PU) Library, a modern building on a north-south axis, is located in the main campus with a total floor space of more than 11,000 m². The main aim of the Library is to provide necessary support for teaching, learning, research activities of the University by providing resources and offering innovative services to the academic community. It has, to its credit, adequate number of International and National Journals, Reference Books, Volumes and Titles related to the courses being offered. Keeping the research and scholarly requirements of the students, a special provision is made for a separate e-library so that the students can access any number of e-material, e-journals and e-books.
UNIVERSITY STUDY CIRCLE
In today’s cut-throat competition, the students are expected to be well-prepared in advance. To crack any competitive examination, they need good practice by being in touch with academics as well as contemporary issues on a daily basis. Training the students in Time management, the University offers the necessary coaching and training to the students to take various competitive examinations at the University Study Circle through regular lectures and expert guest lectures.
SPORTS & GAMES
Palamuru University has a well-established Sports Complex that can accommodate large number of participants and audience. The sports and games Department got all India sports affiliation and was established as an individual department in 2013. The University PG College has some of the best facilities for students for practising and attaining professionalism in their respective games, sports and athletics. Thus, University has always been supportive of sports and fitness as it helps in maintaining a healthy mind and body. In order to motivate the students and to get them interested in sports, Physical Education team takes necessary care.
YOGA & MARTIAL ARTS
The University is well aware that Yoga is a spiritual and ascetic discipline which includes breath control, meditation, and flexible bodily postures. It is widely practised for the sound health and relaxation. The University regularly invites experienced professional Yoga trainers and professional meditation trainers for the physical and mental fitness of the students and teachers. In order to augment the self-confidence levels of the students, the University invites Martial arts experts to train the students, particularly girl students in combat practices, which are practised for self-defense, mental and spiritual development..
National Service Scheme (NSS) is a student-centered programme which is complementary to academics. It is a link between the campus and community, the college and village, knowledge and action. The NSS Cell of Palamuru University has 111 units under its umbrella which have been vibrantly rendering their services very uniquely apart from the regular as well as special camps by adopting villages nearby. Village development, women empowerment, curbing migrations, improvement of village literacy, hygiene and health of the rural communities, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection are some of the best practices of NSS volunteers..
STUDENT ATTAINMENTS & PROCUREMENTS
The students of the University carved a niche in procuring deserving placements in highly structured and organized companies, industries at various positions. Scores of them were able to get into Government jobs and reputed private sectors. A good number of students explored their ways into serious research by qualifying National Eligibility Test and other tests such as CSIR, UGC, IARI, GATE, GPAT and State Eligibility Test. Some of the student scholars proved their mettle through outbound trainings at reputed institutions like CCMB, ICRISAT, CRIDA, CFTRI, EFLU, IICT, NIN, IIT-D, JNTU-H.
The University is successful in creating a student-friendly ambience for their holistic development with its crux of the focus on the most essential physical and knowledge requirements. It facilitates the students with hale and hearty hostel rooms, clean and breezy surroundings, hygienic food, Ozonized-RO Filtered Drinking water, mentor-mentee environs with need-based counselling facilities, Personality Development sessions and Soft Skills programmes, English language learning courses through Centre for English Language Training (CELT) and Coaching for Competitive Examinations by the University Study Circle. Provision for Specialist doctor visits is also made available for attending to the health requirements of the students.
