The Department of Telugu was established in February, 2013(2012-13) in Post-Graduate Centre, Gadwal, Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar with an intention to serve the rural youth of Gadwal. The Department of Telugu offers M.A.,in Telugu programme which consists of 20 courses in four semesters with various specializations in Telugu literature. The Department of Telugu was begun with four Academic Consultants who were all Ph.D., holders.

All the four Academic Consultants were excellent in their areas in Telugu literature and their contribution to the Department of Telugu was really laudable. The Library is well equipped with many books on Telugu Literature to meet the needs of the students. Currently the Department of Telugu consists of two Assistant Professors and two Academic Consultants.

The Department of Telugu follows C B C S syllabus which is very useful to P.G. Students and scholars. Moral values and ethics which are useful to the society are involved in syllabus.
